Mother’s Day Breakfast in Bed
Hey Moms!! Don’t read any further…just forward this directly to your kids and hubby! Or…take a peak so you can make suggestions
Mother’s Day is next Sunday! If you are anything like me, I love for my boys and Doug to do simple things for me. I really don’t need lots of expensive gifts {of course they are always nice} but not really necessary. I think the gifts that they make are just as nice.
This Fruit Bouquet is a perfect Mother’s Day Breakfast in Bed…and it’s really easy! I’ve included a larger bouquet that your hubby or older children can make and also a smaller, easier version for little ones. Let’s get started…
Fruit Bouquet Supplies:
I bought all the supplies and fruit at Walmart.
- Glass Gems {floral/craft department}
- Glass Container/Vase {floral/craft department}
- Floral Foam/Styrofoam {floral/craft department}
- Bamboo Skewers {housewares department near the kitchen gadgets}
Fruit:
Pretty much any fruit will work, whatever Mom likes. I also use a Melon Baller to make it easier.
- Pineapple
- Kiwi
- Oranges
- Grapes {green and red}
- Strawberries
- Honey Dew Melon
First, prepare your container. Place a layer of glass gems or stones in the bottom, cut the floral foam to fit, making sure there is room around all edges for a layer of gems. Add the floral foam and fill in sides with gems. Cut another piece of foam {if needed} and add to the top. I secured my second piece of foam to the first piece with toothpicks. Fill up the rest with gems, leaving the top open.
For the little ones, have them add fruit to the skewers {be careful though, the skewers are little sharp} And then add them to the container. Fill in with gems to cover the foam.
Then for the older kids…
- Cut pineapple into 1/2 inch chunks, using a flower shape cookie cutter, cut pineapple. Add to skewers and top with a melon ball.
- Melt Chocolate {I use Almond Bark found in the Baking Aisle} in microwave, dip strawberries in chocolate and place on wax paper for about 5 minutes or until set. Add to skewer.
- Push fruit skewers into the foam. Putting some taller ones in the middle.
- Use a pair of wire cutters to cut the skewer down a little, if needed
- Mix Fruit Dip using cream cheese {4 oz}, 1 container of yogurt and about 1 cup of Cool Whip.
Serve to Mom with some fruit dip, a cup of her favorite tea, some magazines and pretty flowers.

This is so cute and I know my mom will love this.. I’m 13 and I need to make her a cute breakfast in bed this year… thanks!!
What a tasty idea!
Breakfast in Bed? Nah- the weather outside is gorgeous and it works out so well that we have a lovely patio- besides- we share our bed with puppies…. However- I can see making that arrangement for my husband’s birthday. As fun as it is to give him flowers- giving him food disguised as flowers- he’s going to LOVE how you inspired me. Thank you!
Oh, Liz, that is beautiful and it looks delicious!
What a wonderful idea for Mother’s Day…..for a mom of any age, too. My own mom is 91 years old and she has already told me not to buy her a gift. However, she did NOT tell me NOT to “make” her a gift! Huge hugs for this idea!
I need to forward this to my kids! 😉 So beautiful – and so yummy!
Hi! This makes me so happy to see! It is so nice! I wish it was for me!
Okay, I will admit that when I saw “breakfast in bed” I actually made a face. I actually hate breakfast in bed. First the kids make food I really don’t want to eat (I know that sounds horrible). And all I can think of is the mess of crumbs I will have to clean up later. Or the spilled coffee mess when the kids jump on the bed next to me. BUT the skewers would absolutely work! On Mother’s Day, though, I do a breakfast for my mom and grandmother so the breakfast in bed is out…however, bday or anniversary or just because will work! 🙂 Thanks for the cute ideas. I think I will put fruit skewers on the list.
